The opportunity to model the latest jeans styles while raising money for a good cause was a win-win proposition as CSULB sorority and fraternity members took part in the fifth annual Fashion for Life style show in February, sponsored by the campus chapter of Delta Delta Delta Sorority.
The event supports Tri Delta's national philanthropic partnership with St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., said chapter president Amanda Pallach. Tri Delta has reached $6 million of its goal of raising $10 million over 10 years. The money has provided a recreation room for teenage patients and will support the Tri Delta Patient Care Floor to be located in the new Chili's Care Center.
Every CSULB Greek chapter participated in this year's show in the University Student Union, which raised money through admission fees and selling the jeans to audience members. Students modeled designer jeans provided by Charity Denim.
"Fashion for Life is one of the events our chapter looks forward to most. We get to have fun putting on a fashion show and the money we raise supports a cause we all feel strongly for. The entire Greek community comes to support their brothers and sisters who are modeling and are very gracious and willing to give to our cause," Pallach said.
James Gardikas of Sigma Pi was among the fraternity models. "I have to say Tri Delta puts together a great event," he said. "Also, upon looking further into how much Tri Delta makes annually for St. Jude, I was very impressed."
The fashion show is one of several CSULB Tri Delta philanthropic activities to support St. Jude's. Moreover, "During the holidays, we had our Toys for Boys event where each member of Tri Delta, as well as family, friends and the Greek community donated toys to the Silcock family, who adopted more than 30 physically and mentally handicapped boys ranging from young to teen. We went to their house in Huntington Beach, had a Christmas party with Santa and passed out toys," Pallach said.
